Hoya plants are very unique and very easy to grow. It comes from the milkweed (asclepiadaceae) family. It has cascading vines and waxy green leaves. It can be trained as a vine or grown in hanging baskets. As stunning as the leaves of this plant are, its true beauty comes from the waxy star-shaped flower clusters it produces. Each flower has a set of star-shaped petals (corolla) and an inner, smaller star-shaped flower (corolla) in the center. On first inspection, they almost looked as if they were man-made. Every flower is so perfect, but once you smell these fragrant flowers, you quickly realize that it is not so. Hoyas do need attention when they bloom, and it's really hard not to be in awe when admiring the as many as 40 tiny flowers adorning each umbel they bloom.
Hoya performs best in bright, indirect light away from the hot sun.
Often grown as houseplants, they can also survive outdoors.
