Original Sticker on Back Reads Annemarie Davidson Handcrafted Enamels, Sierra Madre, CA.Born Annemarie Behrendt in Berlin, Germany. Davidson Came to New York City with Her Family in 1936, Received Her BS From NYU in 1941, & MS From Columbia in 1942. She Married Norman Davidson in 1942 & Moved to Sierra Madre, CA. In 1957, She Studied with Enamelist Doris Hall in Cambridge, Then Returned to Sierra Madre in 1958. She Continued Studying with Enamelist Curtis Tann & Became a Friend of Los Angeles–Based Enamelist Mary Sharp. Influenced by Hall, Tann & Sharp, Her Enamels Were Brightly Colored & Abstract. She Used Glass Fragments, Which She Referred to as "Jewels" in Her Work Which Became Part of the Enamel, Giving Her Work a Distinctive Freeform Sculptural Style. She Produced a Variety of Copper Enameled Plates & Bowls, Along with Copper Enamel Tile To Be Used As Inlays For Boxes & Furniture.
