This fascinating, antique, figural inkwell features a Terrier dog, perched on a cushion, smoking a water pipe. Hoyt company 1897 or earlier. The round cushion sits on an elaborately adorned and detailed base. The cushion portion of the base opens to reveal the inkwell, which contains a glass insert, that is in perfect condition, and appears to be original to the inkwell. This wonderfully whimsical inkwell is made of a heavyweight metal, perhaps cast iron. The entire inkwell is in excellent condition. the hinge sauter has come unattached from lid but is not broken.
