1811 Antique German Festival Song Book
I contacted my German teacher from high school and she helped me with my translation. Apparently, my German translation didn’t work for 211 year old Old English document.
It's a celebration songbook for public church festivals. It was published in Bern, Switzerland, in 1811 by the widow Stämpfli (1st generation Stämpfli owned since 1799) and still in business today! This book was one of their first Stämpfli publications and very rare especially in its original box.
Stämpfli Group AG is a Swiss graphic arts company and a publishing house based in Bern. The Group includes 5 subsidiaries and employs about 420 people. The company origin dates back to 1599 and today it is run by the 6th generation of the same family, brothers Rudolf and Peter Stämpfli.
Book shows it’s age. The is some damage on spine and rubbing to box. The first pages have some creasing. The sewn binding is still good. Considering it’s age, it is remarkable!
